How will the Eclipse effect bugs?

While we are all watching the Eclipse Monday, bugs and other animals will be doing something strange as well. Cicadas are not able to make their noise when they are too cold. During the eclipse, with the sun being blocked, it will cause the cicadas to become too cold to make their patented chirp. Another wild thing to look for will be bees and spiders. Bees will return to their hives, thinking it is night time. A species of orb-weaving spiders completely tear down their webs during the eclipse, only to rebuild them when it is done.

This is a once in a life time experience, so while you're enjoying the eclipse, make sure you look around at some of the bugs to see what they are doing as well.
